"Young and the Restless" Actor Fired for Groping Co-Star?
(LOS ANGELES) -- The Young and the Restless actor Michael Muhney was fired from the CBS daytime soap in December after playing Adam Newman since 2009. At the time he didn't specify the reason why, but a new TMZ report claims he was canned after he allegedly harassed a female co-star.
The website reports 20-year-old Hunter King, who plays Summer Newman, had complained that Muhney fondled her breasts on two occasions.
TMZ's sources further claim the 38-year-old Muhney -- who is married and has three children -- had allegedly harassed not only King but also others on the set, and had been a problem for a long time.
Muhney announced last month on Twitter that he had been "let go," writing, "I'm going to take some private time with my wife & kids, as I am most concerned for their well-being..."
Shortly thereafter, he was interviewed by The Huffington Post's Canadian website regarding his departure. When asked why he was given the pink slip, he replied, "Part of me feels this is because I've always been outspoken, and sometimes I've been too outspoken. Sometimes I've walked around with a big backpack full of hubris."
TMZ says some Muhney fans have vowed to stop watching the show because of his firing. His last appearance is set to air Jan. 30.
