Star-Studded Funeral for Country Music Legend George Jones

Facebook.com/GeorgeJones(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Funeral services will be held Thursday morning for country music legend George Jones, who died April 26 at 81-years-old.

Numerous stars will be present at Jones’ funeral, held at the Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville, Tenn. Oak Ridge Boys, Alan Jackson and Vince Gill and others were scheduled to perform.

Singers and celebrities fondly remember Jones.

“There was no generation gaps in his appeal,” said William Lee Golden, baritone singer for the Oak Ridge Boys. “He appealed to every generation. I don't really know of many people that's had that appeal.”

“George has been my friend all these years,” singer Brenda Lee said. “I was thinking the other day about a song that he had out called ‘Whose Gonna Fill Their Shoes?’ And that's never more poignant than right now.”

The late Waylon Jennings, a country music singer who died in 2002, once famously summed up Jones’ musical prowess.

“If we all could sound like we wanted to,” he said, “we'd all sound like George Jones.”
