Valerie Harper Clarifies Cancer Diagnosis
(NEW YORK) -- After being diagnosed with terminal cancer last year, Valerie Harper said she's doing well. On ABC's Good Morning America the actress cleared up that she doesn't have brain cancer, as was previously reported.
"[The tumor is] located in the lining of my brain so...I'm on the cusp. But...the cell that's causing the disease is lung cancer," she clarified Tuesday.
In March 2013, Harper was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. At the time, doctors told her she could have just a few more months to live.
Harper added that her doctor had good news for her last Friday when she went to her most recent checkup.
"He said, 'Valerie, this is so good. We're still moving in the right direction.' So I haven't shifted in any way. And I'm feeling well," she explained. "I get tired, but I mean, I'm gonna be 75. I mean, c'mon!"
Harper also announced on Tuesday that she has teamed up with the American Lung Association for Lung Force, a new awareness movement aimed at women who may be suffering from lung cancer.
