WATCH: Carly Rae Jepsen’s Worst First Pitch Ever
(TAMPA, Fla.) -- Carly Rae Jepsen won’t be making a career switch any time soon after throwing one of the worst ceremonial first pitches in recent history.
The “Call Me Maybe” singer took the mound in cut-off jeans and a Tampa Bay Rays’ jersey with her name emblazoned on the back Sunday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla., where the Rays were hosting the Houston Astros.
As soon as Jepsen, 27, began her wild windup, it all went terribly awry. In a video that is trending online, the Canadian singer’s late release sent the ball nose-diving only half-way to home plate, where it rolled across the first base line and bounced off a camera man’s bag.
Jepsen laughed it off, covering her face and throwing her hands in the air.
Later, she posted a series of photos of the bad toss on Instagram, writing, “A before and after. Me taking the mound. Me knocking the camera out of the photographers hands with the baseball. And me getting a sympathy hug from the catcher. Omg.”
Jepsen had a much better result in April when she tossed out the first pitch at a Baltimore Orioles game. She threw a strike.
