Weekend Box Office: 'Iron Man' is Greater than 'Gatsby'
(NEW YORK) -- The top two movies this weekend were both about fabulously wealthy people, and their weekend grosses were fittingly high.
The Great Gatsby opened stronger than expected, pulling in $51.1 million dollars for second place, but Iron Man 3 remained in first with $72.2 million.
Iron Man 3 is closing in on $1 billion worldwide.
The other notable opening, Tyler Perry Presents: Peeples, bombed. The comedy opened in fourth place with a paltry $4.85 million gross.
Here are the top 10 movies from Friday through Sunday, with estimated ticket sales, according to Hollywood.com:
