Benton Man Seriously Hurt In Wreck East of Salem
State Police say Tyler Schofield apparently fell asleep and crossed the center line. The front driver's side of his pickup hit the back drivers side and trailer of an oncoming truck driven by 38-year-old Bryan Tucker of Caneyville, Kentucky. Schofield was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of major injuries.
Salem Firemen were called to assist the victims. Air Evac had originally been dispatched to the scene of the accident, but could not fly due to the weather. Schofield was ticketed for improper lane usage.
The wreck occurred at 2:27 Monday afternoon. U.S. 50 was closed for about an hour and a half as police handled the crash and to allow cleanup to be completed.
