Concrete Light Pole Crashes Across East McCord in Saturday WreckA 26-year-old Centralia man escaped injury when he apparently fell asleep and struck a concrete light pole on McCord at Jonas Street on Centralia's east side just before noon Saturday.
Centralia Police say Craig Poettker of East Rhodes was traveling westbound when he left the right side of the road, struck the pole, and had his car flip around so it was facing the wrong direction. The car received extensive front end damage.
The light pole and power lines fell across both lanes of traffic on McCord Street, blocking traffic for about a half hour until Ameren crews arrived on the scene.
