Former Centralia Man Dies In St. Louis City Jail

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

A former rural Centralia man who still has family in the area has died as the result of an apparent self-inflicted hanging in the St. Louis City Jail.

The St. Louis Medical Examiners Office Chief Investigator Rose Psara reports 48-year-old Justin Wells appears to have hung himself with a phone cord in a single man cell at the St. Louis City Jail on Tuesday.  Psara says Wells had been picked up on outstanding warrants.  She says Wells was found right away and efforts to revive him were unsuccessful.

The St. Louis Corrections Division is also investigating the incident.
