Lacey Honaker of Salem Crowned 2013 Marion County Fair Queen
The Marion County Fair hit a climax on Tuesday with the Marion County Fair Queen Pageant, where ten girls competed to win the crown of outgoing Queen Ashton Burroughs of Iuka. The girls competed in a variety of events including Evening Wear, Interview, and Swim Wear events, all to impress a panel of judges, and it was Miss Lacey Honaker of Salem who took home the crown and the title of 2013 Marion County Fair Queen.
Honaker was shocked at her coronation. "I'm in total amazement right now." She said, "I can't believe it."
Honaker, the daughter of Bruce and Pam Honaker, is a 2012 graduate of Salem Community High School. She recently attended Kaskaskia College and will be transferring to Indiana State University in the fall to major in Communications and Public Relations.
First runner up went to Morgan Belcher of Patoka, Second Runner up went to Kelsey Carter of Sandoval, Miss Congeniality went to Becky Black of Salem.
The grandstand was packed for the event with family, friends, and admirers of the young ladies, and the audience even included fair queens from other counties as well.
The fair continues this week with the Rodeo tonight, the Draft Horse Pull on Thursday, the Demolition Derby on Friday, and closes with the NTPA tractor pull on Saturday.
