Illinois Federal Inmate Convicted of Killing Cellmate

BENTON, Ill. (AP) - A federal prisoner faces a life sentence after being convicted of killing his cellmate.

Federal jurors in southern Illinois found 54-year-old Cleveland White Feather guilty Thursday of murder. Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 5.

Authorities say White Feather killed Robert Running Bear Jr. in December 2009 at the federal prison in Marion. They say White Feather cut Running Bear's abdomen with a razor.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.  Details were not immediately clear Thursday why the men were originally imprisoned.
