Improvements To South College Street in Salem BeginWork has started on the resurfacing of South College Street from Main to Kell Street in Salem.
Public Works Director John Pruden reports patching work will be completed Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Reclamation of the oil and chip portion south of Lake Street will begin the middle of next week and take two or three days to complete. Paving of the street will not begin until the week of May 13th. All work is weather dependent and any paving work is scheduled to be performed Monday through Friday from seven am to three pm.
Intermittent traffic closures and delays could occur during those hours. No overnight closures are scheduled. Those who travel or live on South College are encouraged to use extreme caution around the construction equipment.
Howell Paving of Salem was awarded a $329,000 contract by the City of Salem to complete the project.
