Man Accused of Fatally Stabbing Carnival WorkerRUSHVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A west-central Illinois man is jailed on charges that he stabbed a carnival worker to death during a fight at a county fair.
Prosecutors in Schuyler County have charged 21-year-old Jared Staake of Beardstown with second-degree murder.
Authorities say Staake stabbed 33-year-old Michael Box of Dyersburg, Tenn., early on July 2 near the sleeping quarters for carnival workers at the Schuyler County Fairgrounds. Box was treated at a hospital but was found unresponsive two days later at the fairgrounds, and he was later pronounced dead. Staake was arrested Friday.
Staake does not have a listed home telephone number, and online court records don't show whether he has an attorney.
