Many Government Offices Close For Veterans Day

Most Government offices will be closed Monday for the Veterans Day Holiday.  

In Salem, City Hall will be closed but garbage pickup will remain on the regular schedule.  However, the leaf vacuum will one day late with no pickup on Monday.

In Centralia, City Hall will be closed Monday and the regularly scheduled City Council meeting has been moved to 7 pm on Tuesday night.   Garbage and yard waste pick-up, along with leaf vacuuming, will remain on schedule for the entire week.

All area courthouses will be closed along with most financial institutions and schools.  There will be no home mail delivery.

 There will be a Veterans Day Service at the Centralia VFW Post 2055 at 1826 SouthPine in Centralia.  The service will begin at 10:30 am.  The event is sponsored by Hillcrest Funeral Home, Cemetery and Cremation Center along with the Centralia American Legion and VFW.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will waive day use fees for veterans, active and reserve component service members and their families on Veterans Day.  The fee waiver requires only verbal confirmation of service.  The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps, but does not apply to camping and camping related services.  The fee waiver first begin in 2006.

Applebee's will show appreciation to veterans by once again offering a select menu of free entrees to active and non-active veterans as well as Gold Star Mothers.  The free meals will be available from 10:30 am until midnight on Monday.
