Mt. Vernon Gets New Police ChiefMt. Vernon has a new Police Chief.
Assistant Chief Chris Deichman was sworn in to the chief's job on Monday. Deichman has served the last six months as acting chief since Chris Mendenhall retired. He has been assistant chief for ten years after first joining the Mt. Vernon Police Department 25 years ago.
Deichman was one of 43 who applied for the position and one of seven interviewed for the job last weekend.
