Peoria Teacher Sentenced for Sex with StudentPEORIA, Ill. (AP) - A former Peoria teacher has been sentenced to five years in prison for having sex with a 15-year-old student.
Amanda M. Ludwig was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
According to the Journal Star in Peoria defense attorney Thomas Penn Jr. said in court that he expected a federal charge against the 28-year-old would be dropped.
Few details about the case were available in state court. But according to federal documents, Ludwig was an art teacher at Manual Academy. She was accused of sending the boy sexually explicit text messages and authorities say she had sex with him in a classroom in January.
School officials learned about the matter from another student who said the boy bragged it.
