Postal Service to Host Passport FairsPost Offices across Southern Illinois will be hosting passport fairs on Saturday, September 21st. The Postal Service promises that passport application processes can be completed with just one visit on this day.
Applicant must provide an Application for Passport Form DS-11. To save time, the form can be downloaded from the USPS website, www.usps.com/passport for completion before you arrive at the post office. The form will also be available at the passport fair.
Applicants, including infants, must present proof of US citizenship, which can include a previous US passport or certified birth certificate issued by a city, county, or state, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, a Certification of Birth, a Naturalization Certificate, or a Certificate of Citizenship. A photo ID is also required. Visit travel.state.gov/passport for more information.
The Postal Service recommends visiting the Post Office as early as possible to apply for your passport, and at least 2 months or earlier before your departure in order to avoid expedition costs.
Information on costs and applications can be found at www.usps.com/passport or travel.state.gov. US Citizens can also obtain information by phone by calling the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-487-2778.
