Salem Aquatic Center Set to Open For Season on SaturdayThe Salem Family Aquatic Center will open for the 2013 season at 12:00 noon on Saturday. The center's hours have been changed this year. Open swim be open from 12:00 noon until 6:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sundays. The facility will close at 5:00 p.m. on nights of swimming lessons, swim meets, or special programs/activities.
On Monday, May 27, free admission will be offered to all veterans and those currently serving in the Armed Forces.
General admission rates are 2 years old and younger - no charge, 3 thru 16 years of age - $4.00, 17 thru 54 years of age - $4.50, 55 through 64 years of age - $4.00, and 65 years of age and older - $1.00. Individual season passes may be purchased for $65 per resident, $80 per non-resident. Family season passes, for up to four family members, are $180 for residents, $220 for non-residents. Each additional family member over four is $36 per resident, $45 per non-resident. Gift cards, good for five visits, are available for $20.00
Two separate sessions of Swimming Lessons will be offered at Salem Family Aquatic Center--Session I June 17 through June 28 and Session II July 1 thru 12, Monday through Thursday, with Fridays being reserved, if needed for making up rained out classes. Registration deadline is June 12 for Session I and June 26 for Session II.
The Salem Family Aquatic Center is available for private parties evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 7:45 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. A morning slot is available Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Price to rent the facility is $195 per hour and a half rental, for parties with 300 or less attending. For parties with more than 300 attending, an additional $1 per person, beginning with the 301 person, will be charged.
Early Morning Swim will begin on Monday, June 3, 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. This is a time specially designed for those early risers wanting to start their day out right, at a time when the pool isn't crowded. This early morning program is for people who are 16 years of age and older and swim team members (13 years and older) who are actively practicing. Fee is $2.50 or daily pool pass.
Mark your calendar! Special events this summer include Dollar Day on Saturday, June 15; Cardinals vs Cubs Fan Day on Saturday, July 13; Christmas in July on Thursday, July 25; Midnight Swim on Friday, August 9 for youth entering 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th grade; Cardboard Boat Races at the pool on Saturday morning, August 10.
