Train Derails in Southern IllinoisDE SOTO, Ill. (AP) - Jackson County authorities say seven train cars loaded with coal derailed in southern Illinois, but no injuries were reported.
The Southern Illinoisan reports the cars derailed late Tuesday night in De Soto, a village about six miles north of Carbondale.
The Jackson County sheriff's department says the west-bound Union Pacific train was mostly loaded with coal.
Cranes were used to lift the cars while traffic was rerouted around the area.
