Walkaway From Twin Willows Found 4 Miles Away Unhurt

By Bruce Kropp, WJBD News

A search for an elderly male who walked away from the Twin Willows Nursing Home on North Broadway in Salem ended successfully.

About 40 people joined the search for the missing man after Salem Police were notified of his disappearance around 9:30 Saturday night.   He was located around midnight about four miles away on the Woodard School Road near the Canadian National Railroad Tracks northwest of Salem.  The man was taken to Salem Township Hospital as a precaution, but was not injured.  The man was located after a passerby contacted law enforcement personnel.

The Salem Police Department is thanking the Salem Fire Protection District, Salem Department of Emergency Management, Marion County Sheriff's Office, Centralia Police Department K-9 Unit, Emergency Medical Service personnel and several helpful citizens for assisting in the search.
