The City of Wamac is celebrating its 100th year anniversary during its annual Wamacfest celebration this weekend, September 20th through 21st in Wamac Park.

The festival will feature musical performances from the Young Musicians Project, the Beaver Brothers Bush Band, and Backline Epiphony. Food will be available including Butch's Famous Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwiches, BBQ Pork Steaks, Bratwursts and Hot Dogs. The Festival will also feature childrens games, Inflatable Jumpers, Beer and Poker Stands, Raffles, 50/50 Drawings, and a 7 ton military vehicle and display by the US Marine Corps 3rd Battalion 24th Marine Regiment of the 4th Marine Division. A Bocce Ball tournament, Washer Tournament, and Cake Walk will also take place.

Wamac Mayor Butch Mathis says proceeds from the event will go towards helping the park.

"We hope everybody will come out. This is all for the kids and to improve our city park. We couldnt do it without the businesses and volunteers." Mathis said.

The event will also feature several area craft vendors.

The City of Wamac was originally founded in 1913.
