Cougars Top Patoka Ahead of NTC TourneyThe South Central Cougars picked up a win in their final game before the National Trail Conference Tournament, topping the Patoka Warriors 4-2 on the road yesterday.
The Cougars scored a run in the second and third innings, but the Warriors answered back to cut into the South Central lead with a run in the bottom of the third. The Cougars scored two in the fifth and Patoka closed out the scoring with a run in the sixth.
South Central had nine hits, as Tyler Ross went 2-3 with two runs batted in. Noah Powless and Kyle Bray both went 2-3 with a double.
Ross and Dylan Peters combined on a three-hitter, with Ross picking up the win. Peters gave up one hit and one run, walked a batter and struck out seven. Ross walked four and struck out three.
The NTC Tournament begins Monday and the Cougars will host Brownstown/St. Elmo at 4:30 at Kinmundy Lions Field.
