Hahn and Jourdan Head to State MeetTwo Wildcats
will be representing Salem at the state track meet in Charleston next week.
Matt Hahn qualified for state in both the shot put and discus. Hahn’s first
discus throw went over 149-feet, automatically qualifying the senior for the
state meet. The qualifying distance was 148’. Hahn finished third in the discus
with a best toss of 153’ 5”. Hahn finished fourth in the shot put at 51’ 2 ½”.
Tyler Jourdan sailed beyond the competition in
the pole vault when he was the lone vaulter to clear 14’. But the Salem junior
was not done, as the bar was raised to fifteen feet and cleared with ease.
Jourdan then attempted to break the SCHS record of 15’3” with a vault of 15’4”,
but could not clear it successfully after three attempts.
Rashad Campbell was the lone Orphan to qualify for state, finishing third in
the shot put with a throw of 55’9”.
