Jr High Ball - Odin Wins Regional; Carlyle Beats Franklin ParkThe Odin Junior Eagles (16-5) punched their ticket to state tournament Friday night with a 51-36 victory over Altamont Lutheran in the championship game of the Iuka Class S Regional. Odin led 14-9 after one period and 20-11 at the half. Odin out scored Altamont 17-10 in the 3rd period to go up 37-23 after three. Odin was led in scoring by their big man Austyn Dodson with 17 PTs and 6 rebounds, Xander Laffoon had 15 PTs and 7 rebounds and Seth Nix added 8 PTs. The Eagles will head to The state tournament at Rend Lake College next Saturday as they are set to play in game #5 of 8. Tipoff is at approximately 2:30pm with an opponent yet to be determined. Other scorers for the Eagles were Gage Roberts-5; Logan Wood-4; Brysen Smith-2.
Salem Franklin Park fell to Carlyle Friday night 59 to 47. Salem was led by Karen Wayer with 21 points and JD Allison 14 points. Salem won the JV game over Carlyle 41-39. Salem started off slow, trailing 15 to 4 at the end of the first quarter and 20 to 11 at half-time. Salem then outscored Carlyle 19 to 12 in the third quarter and 11 to 7 in the final quarter to pick up the two point victory. The Salem JV was led by Kaden Wayer with 21 points and JD Allison with 14.
