Lady Cats Drop Pair at DuQuoinDUQUOIN - The Salem Lady Wildcats split their two games at the Duquoin Tournament on Saturday.

Mallory Daniels was the story of this game as she had a no-hitter for 4.1 innings. Daniels allowed only 2 total hits for the game. She walked none and struck out 7 in her 7 innings of work. Daniels was also the hitting star as she went 3-4, scored 2 runs & stole 2 bases.
Anissa rasul was 2-2 with a triple, walk and also scored 2 runs. Kelly Sager had a hit and 2 RBI.
DuQuoin 9 Salem 1
The Lady Cats committed 6 errors in 2 innings and all 9 of DuQuoin's unearned runs scored in those innings as Salem fell to the hosts.
"It's hard to beleive that you can lose a game 9-1 and fell like you could have won it," said head coach James Holsapple.
"We played horrible defense in 2 innings."
Ashley West started the game and threw 5 plus innings, allowing 7 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks and 2 strikeouts. Mallory Daniels relieved her after the first 2 hitters reached in the 6th, one on an error. She allowed 1 hit, 2 runs in her 1 innings, but 2 more errors helped seal the game away for DuQuoin.
"Offensively we had our chances, as we had runners in all but the first inning, but couldn't get that big two-out hit."
Salem left 8 runners on base, 17 in the two games. Salem was 1-5 with runners on and 2 outs in the game. Salem was only 2-12 with runners on the entire game as they were unable to string together any hits.
Salem is 2-4 on the season and will head to Carlyle Monday afternoon for a game against the Lady Indians.
