Lady Cats Open Post Season Tonight

EFFINGHAM - It's post season time for the Salem Lady Wildcats, and coach Janet Holst has her team peaking at just the right time.  Winners of 7 of their last 8 games, Salem will travel to Effingham High School as the #2 seed from the Class 3A regional where they will face Olney.

The Lady Cats defeated Carbondale on the road to close out the regular season, which impressed head coach Holst.

"We haven't played real well there in past years, and Carbondale is a really good team.  That was a good win for us."

Salem has played Olney twice losing at home before knocking them off at the Mattoon Christmas Tournament.  The rubber match starts at 8pm tonight following the first game of the night featuring top seed Effingham and Mattoon.

The Olney Lady Tigers advanced to the matchup with Salem with a 57-44 win over Shelbyville.  Mattoon moved on by eliminating arch rival Charleston 60-55.
