Lady Cats Top Mt. Vernon in GolfThe Salem Lady Wildcat golf team went to Green Hills Golf Course in Mt Vernon and returned with a team win, a medalist, and two breakout performances.
Salem topped the Lady Rams 193-199.
Megan Gallatin posted the best round of the day, earning the medalist honors with a 43. Senior Morgan Thompson finished with a season-best 45 while sophomore Emily Baer carded a personal-best 52. Haley Gallatin finished with a 53.
Salem Coach Megan Kessler explains that after last week, this was the type of performance her squad needed.
"To be honest, I'm happy to put last week behind us. We did not play well as a team and we were not mentally tough. We did finish the week with two good practices and more importantly we discussed at length the importance of staying focused throughout a round. The key now will be dialing in their consistency because now they know they can physically post the scores. Consistency is not always easy in the game of golf, but it is necessary for us to achieve the goals we've set forth as a team this season."
Salem gets a preview of the Apollo Conference match when all Apollo teams travel to the Olney Invitational on Wednesday.
