Post 128 Seniors Split with VandaliaThe Salem Post 128 Senior Legion baseball team split a doubleheader with Vandalia Friday night in Salem.
The hosts won the first game 7-3 behind the arm of Logan Phillips and plenty of offensive support. Johnny Tolliver had a pair of doubles and Kolton Morrison added a third on a two-hit night as Salem outhit Vandalia 9-6. Tolliver and Morrison each scored a pair of runs. Pete Colclasure added a pair of singles in Salem's win.
Tolliver and Morrison stayed hot in the nightcap, each powering pitches over the fence for homeruns, but it wasn't enough as Post 128 fell to Vandalia 13-6. Morrison drove in two runs in the loss, and Monte Ferrero had a pair of hits, but recent South Central graduate Austin Schwarm went 4-5 with a pair of doubles, three RBIs and four runs driven in to help lead his team to the win. Three Salem pitchers combined for the loss, as Daniel Diss, Shawn Meyer, and Alex Phillips all saw time on the hill.
Post 128 is now 7-9. Salem has a make-up game with Teutopolis Saturday afternoon following a Junior Legion double header.
