Post 128 Seniors Stay Alive in Tournament
The Salem Senior Legion baseball team's three-run first inning built an early lead that
helped bring home a 5-4 win over Vandalia on Sunday at T-town.
Salem took a 3-0 lead in the home half of the first when Johnny Tolliver walked and scored on Kolton Morrison's RBI single. Colton Wilkins followed up with the first of his four hits on the day, singling and advancing Morrison to third. Alex Phillips continued his recent hot streak with a two-run single.
Vandalia made it a 3-2 game in the fourth inning, but Post 128 bounced back with a pair of runs in the fifth and kept Vandalia off the scoreboard until the ninth inning when the visitors scored two more, but it wasn't enough to stay alive in the district tournament.
Aaron Ruckman got the win for Salem in a complete game effort. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered seven hits.
Salem stays alive in the Senior Legion district tournament. Post 128 is now 12-11.
