Salem Falls to Paris 65-43 In Apollo Conference ActionThe Salem Wildcats went down in defeat Tuesday night to the Paris Tigers, 65-43.
The Wildcats jumped to a 5-2 lead in the first quarter, but then Paris went on a 13-0 run to close out the first quarter on top 15-5. In the second quarter, the two teams played even with Paris outscoring Salem 18-17. That gave Paris a 33-23 lead at the half-time break.
The Wildcats started the second half by hitting the first three points, but then Paris outscored Salem 14-10 to give the Tigers a 47 to 32 lead at the end of three. In the fourth quarter, Paris put it away by outscoring Salem 18-11 and making the final score 65 to 43.
The Paris Tigers were led by Riley Spencer with 16 and Austin Temple with 13. For the Wildcats, Chance McKay had 12, and Nick Conklin and Chase Mercer had 9 apiece.
The Salem JV won 62-43 to improve to 3-4. They had four players in double figures. Nathan Williams had 14, Cole Steward with 13, Alex Hawkins and Nick Helm with ten apiece.
Paris improves to 9-4 overall and 2-1 in the Apollo. The Wildcats are now 3-13 overall and 1-3 in the Apollo. Salem's next game is Friday, when they travel to Effingham to take on the Flaming Hearts.
