Salem Top Seed in Southwest TourneyThe Salem Wildcats are the number-one overall seed in the 23rd
Annual Southwest League Tournament this weekend at Greenville College.
Salem’s league record of 10-3 gave them the edge over
Freeburg who is 10-4. South Division opponents Waterloo Gibault (9-5) and Red
Bud (6-9) will join Salem and Freeburg at the tournament.
North Division representatives are, in order from their seeding,
top-seed Brighton (12-4), Belleville East (10-4), Godfrey (9-5), and O’Fallon
The tournament is single elimination and, unlike American
Legion post-season play, is the culmination of the Southwest League season.
Salem will play O’Fallon this morning at 10am. Zach Tate is
scheduled to start on the mound for the Wildcats.
