Sonics Eliminated in Semifinals at PinckneyvilleThe Centralia SuperSonics 14u softball team got bumped from the Pinckneyville Tournament in the semifinal game after going 1-1-1 in pool play.
Centralia started pool play with a 5-4 loss to the SI Sting. Chloe Wendling, Jo Brooks, and Lauren Heinzmann all went 2-3. Heinzman had a triple
in the game. Wendling suffered the loss.
The Sonics bounced back with an offensive explosion in a 9-0 win over the Xplosion. Brooks was the winning pitcher. Casey Little had a 3-3 game, Sydney Hoerchler went 2-3 with a double, and Kameron Kelly and and Bailey Spears both had a pair of hits.
Game Three of pool play saw the SuperSonics tie the Heartland Pride 2-2. Kelly led the team, going 2-2 at the plate.
Centralia found their winning ways again in bracket play, topping the SI Dirt Diamonds 6-4 in the bracket opener. Wendling got the win for Centralia as Heinzmann led the team at the dish, going 2-3 with a double. The Sonics also got hits from Spears, Wendling, Kelly, and Megan Molenhour.
Meeting the Pride in the semifinal game, Centralia fell 4-3. Wendling took the loss. Kelly went 2-2 with a double. Little and Hoerchler both went 2-3. Heinzmann and Brooke Burcham each added a double for Centralia.
Centralia is now 30-10-1 on the season.
