South Central Settles for Fourth at Herrin

The South Central Lady Cougars went 3-2 at the Herrin Tournament Saturday to claim fourth place.

After breezing through pool play with wins over Woodlawn, Christopher, and Crab Orchard, the Lady Cougars fell in two sets to New Athens before a three-set loss to the Herrin Lady Tigers.

Lincoln Brasel put on a clinic, leading the team with 29 kills and nine stuffs while being the top vote-getter for the All Tournament Team. Maria Brasel posted 38 assists on the day while serving 31 points, including five aces. Lexi Harpster also had five aces to accompany her thirteen digs.

New Athens was the tournament champion, eventually topping Marion.
