World Series Begins Tonight in Boston(Boston, MA) -- The 109th World Series begins tonight as the St. Louis Cardinals visit the Boston Red Sox in Game One at historic Fenway Park.
It's a rematch of the 2004 Fall Classic, which Boston swept in four games to end an 86-year championship drought.
The Sox beat the Detroit Tigers in six games this year to capture the American League pennant, while the Cards dropped the Los Angeles Dodgers in six games to claim the National League crown.
Fifteen-game winner Jon Lester starts Game One for Boston, while St. Louis counters with 19-game winner Adam Wainwright.
This is the fourth time these teams have met in the World Series overall, with St. Louis winning the first two matchups in 1946 and 1967.
The Red Sox have home-field advantage in the best-of-seven series after the American League won this summer's All-Star Game.
The Cardinals are seeking their second World Series title in three seasons and 12th overall. The Red Sox won titles in both 2004 and 2007 and are attempting to win their eighth World Series in franchise history.
