Teen Stowaway Has Left Hawaii
(HONOLULU) -- The teen who stowed away in the wheel well of a Hawaiian Airlines jet last month left the state of Hawaii on Friday.
The Hawaii Department of Human Services Child Welfare Branch says that Yahya Abdi, 15, was "safe and no longer in Hawaii" on Friday, about two weeks after he arrived.
Abdi spent about five hours in the wheel well of the jet, surviving chilly temperatures and high altitudes in an unpressurized area of the plane.
The Hawaii DHS says it has no further involvement in the case.
