Alabama Ready for Texas A&M
(NEW YORK) -- The top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide remained focused on Texas A&M and not the off-field distractions as Yahoo! Sports reported that former Alabama offensive tackle D.J. Fluker received illegal benefits before completing his college career this week.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban only wanted to discuss his upcoming opponent.
"If anybody didn’t do the right things, we’ll take appropriate action to take care of it," Saban said on Thursday. "I’m here to coach our players and talk about our team."
Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will get all he can handle from the Alabama defense after he handed them their only loss last season, but was not made available to speak this week.
"Everything that we do here at Texas A&M is about team and it's about building our team, building our program and not the individual," Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin said. "Saturday afternoon you're going to have two football teams, and I just don't understand why there's got to be one guy singled out with a camera. That's not what we try to be about, that's not what we promote."
Alabama quarterback A.J. McCarron and Manziel are good friends, but he isn't seeking this game as revenge from their loss last year.
"That's last year," McCarron said. "Turn the page. I don't really focus on what happened last year no matter if we won or we lost. I'm worried about this year and what we need to do to win this year."
Tickets for the game are reportedly going for an average of $760, the most ever for a ticket to a college football game.
