Chiefs Improve to 8-0

Jason O. Watson/Getty Images(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) -- The Kansas City Chiefs improved to 8-0 on Sunday with a 23-17 win over the Cleveland Browns (3-5).

Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith threw two touchdown passes and was 24 of 36 for 225 yards in the victory.

"We love it," Smith said of getting every team's best effort.  "You want the stages to get bigger. That's why you put all the work in. You want this opportunity. You want that honor."

Ryan Succop nailed a 40-yard field goal for his third of the game with 17 seconds remaining to put the game in the books.

Browns quarterback Jason Campbell threw two touchdown passes in his first start in the NFL since 2011.  Campbell was replacing Brandon Weeden, who was benched after two poor performances.

"We weren't able to make the plays at the end there to win the game," Brown coach Rob Chudzinski said. "Kansas City started fast and we weren't able to get anything going early in the game. I thought our guys did a great job of fighting and getting back in the game."

Kansas City will travel to Buffalo next Sunday to take on the Bills.
