Clippers' Chris Paul Hopes to Return for All-Star Game

NBA via Los Angeles Clippers(NEW YORK) -- Even though he's spent most of 2014 recovering from injury, Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul is expecting to suit up and play in the All-Star Game on Feb. 16.

"If I can play, I'm going to play, I love to play that much," Paul said Wednesday. "The All-Star game is in New Orleans and that's part of me. That's where I played my very first All-Star Game. Anytime you have that opportunity, I'm not going to pass that up because it's not guaranteed to happen next year."

Paul suffered a separated shoulder last month and he hasn't been able to play since. He was originally expected to miss six weeks of action, which would put him in line to be able to play in the annual event.

Before his injury, Paul was the leading vote-getter to start at point guard in the Western Conference, but has since been surpassed by Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry.

In 34 games this season, Paul is averaging 19.6 points and 11.2 assists per game.

Paul spent the first six years of his career with the then New Orleans Hornets.
