Eastern Kentucky Wins OVC Title With 79-73 Win Over Belmont
(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) -- Eastern Kentucky (24-9) upended Belmont (24-9) on Saturday night, 79-73 to win the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship and an NCAA tournament berth.
Guard Corey Walden led the way for the Colonels, scoring 22 points in the second-half. He would finish with a career-high 29 points and seven assists, while guard Glenn Cosey contributed 23 points and five assists.
Bruins guard J.J. Mann, the OVC player of the year, scored a team-high 18 points. Guard Evan Bradds and forward Drew Windler added 14 points each.
It will be the eighth time in school history that Eastern Kentucky has appeared in the NCAA tournament.
