Fauria's Three TD Catches Leads Lions Past Browns
(CLEVELAND) -- Lions rookie tight end Joseph Fauria caught three touchdowns, and Detroit scored the final 24 points of the game as it toppled the Cleveland Browns 31-17 Sunday.
"Being a rookie, being young, you have to work your way up and earn that trust," the 6-foot-7 Fauria said when talking about his three touchdowns. "I just talked to the quarterbacks this past week and they are finally getting used to how I run routes 'cause you know I am a little longer guy, not choppy, I stride out a little bit. Earning that trust with Matthew is tremendous and that’s the reason why it happened today."
Calvin Johnson, who is dealing with a banged-up knee, had only three catches in the game. Teammate Kris Durham picked up the slack, catching eight balls for 83 yards in the win.
The Lions (4-2) trailed 17-7 at halftime, but three of quarterback Matthew Stafford's four touchdown passes were thrown in the second half, as the Lions move into first place in the NFC North (Detroit holds the tie-breaker over Chicago).
Cleveland (3-3) has its three-game win streak snapped.
Josh Gordon caught seven balls for 126 yards in the loss.
