LaMarcus Aldridge Open to Re-Signing with the Trail Blazers
(NEW YORK) -- As early as this past offseason, the future of power forward LaMarcus Aldridge with the Portland Trail Blazers has been up in the air. But with the team emerging as one of the best in the Western Conference, Aldridge is open to re-signing with the team.
"Neil (Olshey, Blazers GM) and I talked all summer," Aldridge told Kerry Eggers of the Portland Tribune. "I was unhappy with what happened last season. He said 'I know you want to win now. We're not going to rebuild. We're going to bring in some guys to win now.' We went back and forth. He said, 'Let me bring in some guys to help you.' And that's what happened."
"I would like to re-sign here," he added. "If they want to talk about it, I would talk about it. They haven't yet, but I'm looking forward to the chance to do that."
Coming off a 33-49 season, Aldridge grew frustrated and there were reports that he wanted a trade or at least not finish his career in Portland. Fast forward to this season, the Blazers are 28-9 and have the second-best record in the Western Conference.
The 28-year-old Aldridge is set to become a free agent following the 2014-2015 season. In his eighth NBA season, he's averaging 23.6 points and 11.0 rebounds per game.
