Manti Te'o: 'I'm Here to Play Football'
(SAN DIEGO) -- San Diego Chargers second-round draft pick Manti Te'o had his first rookie minicamp on Friday. Te'o is focused on putting his infamous girlfriend hoax in the past and ready to show his teammates that he is committed to winning.
"I'm here to play football," Te'o said. "I'm not focusing on what is going on on the outside. I'm worried about what we're doing here in San Diego and I'm looking forward to when the veterans come in on Monday."
Te'o spoke about the new journey he is about to take in the NFL.
"You feel like you are a freshman again," he said. "Football is still football, but there is different terminology and verbiage. That is the biggest change for everybody because we're used to things being called a certain way."
Te'o will wear No. 50 to honor his home state of Hawaii.
