Mike Krzyzewski Might Coach Team USA Again After All
(NEW YORK) -- After declaring that he was walking away from being the head coach of the United States Olympic men's basketball team, Coach K is in discussions to return to the team, according to SI.com.
After the 2012 Olympics in London, Krzyzewski said that he had no plans on returning to the team, and was ready to walk away from international competition. But lately, he's been in deep talks with USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo.
"I think it's very close to being resolved," Colangelo said in the SI.com report. "That's all I can say for sure. Give it another week and it should be resolved."
Since the Americans don't play again till 2014, Colangelo was never in a rush to name Krzyzewski's replacement. SI.com is reporting that Colangelo had yet to even approach any candidates yet.
Krzyzewski was hired back in 2005 after a disappointing finishes in the 2004 Olympics and the 2002 world basketball championship.
