Nets' Jason Kidd Gets Techical Foul in Coaching Debut

NBA via New York Knicks(ORLANDO) -- The Orlando Summer League is a chance for rookies to get their feet wet at the NBA level and develop before next season starts, and the same can be said for coaches. In his Nets debut, head coach Jason Kidd received a technical foul.

During the team's loss to the Detroit Pistons, Kidd walked accross half court to challenge a foul call, and was then promptly given a technical foul.

"It happens," Kidd said when asked about the technical. "I learned quickly where the coaching box is. I've seen some coaches at the other end of the floor, so I can't follow their lead."

Kidd spent 19 seasons in the NBA and played at an All-Star level a majority of that time. About a week after he retired following this past season, he was surprisingly hired by the Nets despite zero coaching experience at any level whatsoever.

Helping Kidd closely with his coaching transition is former Nets coach Lawrence Frank. He was seen drawing up plays and is expected to heavily aid Kidd.

"I will lean on my staff," Kidd added. "Every one of the coaches will bring something to the table."

Some current NBA coaches came to watch Kidd make his coaching debut, including Erik Spoelstra, Brad Stevens and Tyrone Corbin.
