Phelps Comes in 2nd in First Final Since Comeback
(MESA, Ariz.) -- Michael Phelps finished in second place in his first final of his comeback since ending his 20-month retirement.
In his first competition since the 2012 London Olympics, Phelps lost to Ryan Lochte Thursday in the 100-meter butterfly final at Arena Grad Prix.
Lochte finished with a time of 51.93 seconds while Phelps clocked in at 52.13.
Phelps actually qualified earlier in the day with the fastest time, finishing in 52.84 seconds.
"I felt like a summer league swimmer today," Phelps said. "I felt like I should have my heat and lane written on my hand so I didn't forget it."
