Phillies' Ben Revere Out 6-8 Weeks Following Foot Surgery

Rich Pilling/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- While the Philadelphia Phillies have played their best baseball of the season in recent weeks, they'll have to keep their momentum going without one of their best hitters. Centerfielder Ben Revere will miss the next 6-8 weeks after undergoing foot surgery.

Revere fractured a bone between his foot and his ankle during the first game of a doubleheader against the White Sox.

This is a tough blow to the Phillies along with Revere, who had really turned things around after a tough start to the season. He hit just .200 in April, but since May 1, he posted a .357 batting average, which was sixth-best in baseball over that time.

Before it was revealed how much time Revere would miss, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro Jr. says Revere's injury might force the team to make a move before the deadline.

"If that's the case, we'll probably looking for a centerfielder if there's one that's available. I don't know if there's one available or one that will be an upgrade from what we have right now with John [Mayberry] being out there," he explained.

In his first season in Philadelphia, Revere hit .305 in 88 games played for the Phillies.
