Robert Griffin III Takes to Facebook to Address Critics

Ronald Martinez/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- After becoming one of the most popular rookies in the NFL last season, Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III was heavily scrutinized in his sophomore year and he recently addressed all of his critics on Facebook.

"You think I want it to be national news that I visit a beach? Or shop at Walmart? Or wore red shoes instead if green yesterday? Well I don't," Griffin wrote. "I'm 'striving' for greatness just like my teammates do."

"The 'attention' that comes with being a QB in the league is what you are referring to. All the press conferences and talking to the media? [We're] mandated by the league to have a press conference every week during the season and during team activities during the off-season," he continued.

Griffin burst onto the scene in 2012 with his electrifying play, and led the Redskins to an NFC East title. Still, the team fell apart in 2013 and Griffin struggled due to his recovery from a torn ACL as well as friction with former head coach Mike Shanahan.

Griffin was the second overall pick in the 2012 Draft.
