Wainwright Wins MLB Leading 10th Game, as Cardinals Top Mets
Wainwright (10-3) pitched seven scoreless innings allowing four hits, two walks while striking out six.
While Wainwright was great, Harvey was almost as good. The Mets young starter went seven-innings, allowing five hits, one run, one walk and struck out seven.
Harvey's only blemish came in the third inning when Matt Carpenter laced a ball into right field that Mets outfielder Marlon Byrd dived and missed, allowing Carpenter to drive in Pete Kozma.
Byrd tried to make up for the miss in the ninth, when he hit a home run off Cardinals closer Edward Mujica, but that was the only run the Mets could gather.
Wainwright has now won five straight games and has lowered his ERA to 2.18.
