Warriors Andrew Bogut Suffers Rib Fracture, Could Miss Playoffs
(OAKLAND, Calif.) -- With the NBA playoffs set to begin this week, the Golden State Warriors are already dealing with a potentially crushing injury. Center Andrew Bogut recently suffered a fractured rib, which could force him to sit out the post-season.
The team announced that Bogut is out indefinitely, but did not reveal a timetable for a possible return. The recovery time for this type of injury is typicalli in the six week range.
"I've got to be careful, because if it cracks I'm looking at a punctured lung. You'll see me in the hospital with a tube coming out of me," Bogut said. "It's one of those things people have played through, but this is too close to comfort for me."
The 29-year-old Bogut is a key defensive piece to the Warrior's success. This season, he's averaging 7.3 points, 10.0 reobunds per game, and 1.8 blocks per game.
Despite his talent, Bogut has struggled with injuries throughout the majority of his career. The past three seasons alone, Bogut has missed 135 total games.
