Willis McGahee Signs with Browns
(NEW YORK) -- The Browns already have a replacement for Trent Richardson.
The Cleveland Browns signed veteran running back Willis McGahee after he passed a physical Thursday, just a day after the team traded away starting running back Trent Richardson to the Indianapolis Colts.
McGahee played for Denver last season, rushing for 731 yards and four touchdowns in 10 games before enduring a season-ending knee injury. McGahee was due to make $2.5 million in 2013 before the Broncos released him in June.
The 31-year-old, two-time Pro Bowler has averaged 4.1 yards per carry, rushing for 8,097 yards and 63 touchdowns during his nine-year NFL career.
“He knows how to prepare, how to go play,” Browns offensive coordinator Norv Turner said. “He’s been a very good inside runner. I would think, based on his experience, he’ll understand the protection things and be able to contribute in that area.”
