Salem Man Held After Battery To Police Officer Following Traffic Stop
11/6/09 @ 2:24:52 pm

A 56-year-old Salem man is being held in the Marion County Jail for alleged possession of a controlled substance and aggravated battery to a police officer.

Centralia Police say Douglas Davis of West Allman was a passenger in a car during a traffic stop.  He initially refused to get out of the car after the driver gave permission to search.  After allegedly finding a rock of crack cocaine in the car, Davis allegedly kicked the officer trying to take him into custody.  Police later had to apply pepper spray when Davis allegedly caused a disturbance in the holding cell at the Centralia Police station.  The driver of the car, 52-year-old Linda Nelson of North Trenary in Salem, was ticketed for improper lane usage.
